If you’re looking to create a stunning fireplace or entrance-way feature, it’s hard to go past the versatility of Manufactured Stone
What is Manufactured / Agglomerate Stone?
This relatively new housing material is a synthetic stone made from natural stone chips which are subsequently suspended in a binder of cement, epoxy resins or polyester.
Quartz has many popular applications within Manufactured Stone products as it gives the finished product radiance, strength and consistency. Manufactured Stone has about four times the flexural strength of Granite and is therefore very resilient to chipping or cracking.
Manufactured Stone Applications
Made of lightweight concrete and molded to replicate the look of natural stone, manufactured stone veneer is a modern building material for fireplaces and similar wall installations. While the firebox itself is generally made of heavy-duty synthetic materials, the hearth, mantle, and chimney are clad with “faux” or Manufactured Stone.
Natural Colour and Tone
Because it is an agglomerate, Manufactured Stone can be easily stained with various pigments. This make it one of the most versatile stones for use in different spaces. Colours and stains can be easily matched to surrounding fabrics and subsequently sealed to maintain the veneer’s integrity. Both indoor and outdoor fireplaces clad by manufactured stone are low maintenance.
The Global Stone Process
Because manufactured stone requires such incredible precision, Global Stone uses some of Vancouver’s very best masons when installing manufactured stone fireplaces. From estimation to finishing and clean-up of grout, the process requires absolute care. Stone are installed from top to bottom so as to ensure the integrity of the colour. Final approval is always reserved for the client.
